Will you be wearing o' the green tomorrow?! Wishing you a Happy almost Saint Patrick's Day! I just noticed a link to BlogHer for soda bread ideas and of course clicked on it and thought I'd share the yummies with you.
(You may find additional recipe ideas where I found the following, at BlogHer)
Irish Soda Bread Muffins from Kitchen Parade
And check out her list of St. Patrick's Day recipes here.
Oats and Honey Irish Soda Bread with Raisins from Baking Bites
Irish Soda Bread and a Fine Irish Cheese from My Own Sweet Thyme
Irish Soda Bread Scones from Wicked Good Dinner
And I finally finished my St. Patrick's Day cards yesterday in time to run over (like a crazy woman) to the post office for the three thirty pick up. WHEW! I am so tired of myself and my procrastinating. So boring and anxiety making.
I really enjoy using vintage postcard images and I happened upon this darling one with a little fairy, sitting on a toadstool, beside four leaf clovers. Once I find an image, then I'm all about the words. I found this charming passage from an old Irish song and thought it fit well.
"I'll seek a four-leaved shamrock in all the fairy bells,
and if I find the charmed leaves, oh, how I'll weave my spells!"
from The Four Leaved Shamrock by Samuel Lover

Edited to add: Irish Soda Bread with Raisinets! I was just reading a post at La Fuji Mama about the best chocolate chip recipe and I noticed a twitter mention of Irish Soda Bread with Raisinets by nestlefoodie and couldn't resist adding it to this list. This will either be fun or majorly yucky.

ReplyDeleteHi Beatnheart!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting my blog and saying hello! :)
I know, I was just thinking I should at least go out and get water and batteries today. But I got caught up in my usual routine and never went. D'oh!
I'd love to hear if you like any of the recipes.
Happy St. Pat's Day to you!
Yum, Irish Soda Bread. Now I CAN do that for St. Patrick's Day. Happy St. Patricks day to you and your cards look so good. I have been in a funk lately as it is pretty gloomy here and my little one has some type of bug and is not her sweet little self. We need some perkin' up.
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you've been in a funk! I get depressed when it's gray a lot too. And I'm so sorry to hear your little punkin isn't feeling well. Sending you both hugs and wishes for a brighter day tomorrow and a return to health. Hope you find a recipe you like - baking always perks me up too.
Happy St. Patrick's Day and week to you!
Hi Sally! I thought of you when I heard about the EQ. I remember the one in 94, I thought I was a goner!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great St. Patrick's day. Your card is gorgeous!! xoxoxoxo Pam
Hi Pam!
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patty's Day to you!
Where were you for the 94 quake? Were you in Topanga? I ask because I was in WLA and my parents were in the SM mountains and they didn't have the same earthquake that I had. I lost half of my knick knacks in the quake and lots of chimneys and walls went down in my area. I gather I'm in a liquifaction area and the SM mountain range is bedrock or some such thing - much the better place to be. Who knew?!
Running off to your blog to say howdy doody!
Happy St. Patrick's Day! You have me hungry now for soda bread! Such a fun post! Thank you always for stopping by to say hello. You always bring a smile to my heart! Elizabeth
