Watkins Almanac Farm Hints REDnesday

(Please visit Sue at It's A Very Cherry World for info on Rednesday!)

We went to the Long Beach Swap Meet on Sunday morning. One of these days I want to get there early! We went out to breakfast first, so we didn't get there until 10:30 and the crowd had already begun to swell and the sun beat down on us. I've yet to see the entire show, each time the heat and the crowds get to me and I just want to go home after an hour or so.

I had quite a lengthy list of things I wanted but found none of them - probably just as well for my pocket book, huh?!

One of the things I did come home with was this Watkins Almanac Farm Hints Booklet from 1947 ... I was on the lookout for Red items for Rednesday and red was at bare a minimum too. This grabbed my eye with the cute little girls and I thought, EUREKA and (at the time) thought the illustrations would be fun for today.

But now ... I have Buyer's Remorse bwahahhahhahahha! Now that the heat of the moment has passed, I'm less than impressed.

What have you bought in the heat of the moment that made you wonder what on earth were you thinking when you got home???

I'm including the June and July forecasts - the graphics on the tables are about as fun as it gets. The ads aren't even amusing. Woe is me. So sorry to inflict this upon you teehee!

(hang in there ... there's extra special super duper cuteness after this Almanac bit!)

Okay ... moving on to the good stuff ... this will make it all worthwhile, I promise!

Yesterday I received my order from darling Stephanie of Old World Primitives. Stephanie is the best of the best at Etsy ... uber talented, sweet as can be and ultra professional.

(Apologies to Stephanie ... these were taken with my iPhone, my digital
camera is so old that my iPhone takes better close up photos than it does. WAH!
Hopefully you have now forgiven me for the less than exciting Farm Hints Almanac
and maybe there will even be points awarded for the patriotic papers teehee!)

Better yet, here are Stephanie's much nicer photographs ...

(Stephanie will accept custom orders - I asked her to make a patriotic doggie for me.)

Aren't they the cutest?! They are even cuter in person!

Happy REDnesday to everyone!

  12. Hi Sandy!
Since you're from Arizona, you will probably be able to handle the heat a lot better than I do - plus it's nowhere near the heat you're used to in AZ. Fall may be still be hot - we have our lovely Indian Summer sometimes and it's hot during the day and cools off at night. Last weekend was strange, usually there's great stuff - maybe we just didn't make it over to where it was?!
I do have a white feather tree that I bought for Valentine's Day but I only have these few so far - perhaps next year. :)
    Happy Rednesday,
    Sally

  19. The cover of the almanac is adorable, even if the inside is a little dry! Love the patriotic figures, especially the stars. My buyers remorse moments are too many to list, comes with the territroy of being an inpulsive shopper!

  26. Hi Melody!
No no no, you're not boring at all - I just meant that I thought I saw something in the almanac at the antique show that I didn't see upon arriving home. POOF! Goodness gone. ;) It is charming, just not "as" charming as I thought it was at first sight.
You're so sweet, thank you so much for the offer of looking for a recipe tin for me! Our kitchen is a pale green color that we saw in a Martha Stewart layout and I haven't been able to decide what color would look good as an accent??? So far I've put off buying any decorative pieces because I'm so confused. I will come over and visit you on your blog.
    Happy Tuesday,
    Sally
