Monday blog love and Gifties for my niece

(scroll down to the end of post for Monday blog love)

(I couldn't think of anywhere to hang the garland from
for a photo so I threw open the armoire and voila!)

Happy Monday morning to everyone!

It sure felt odd to not have been firmly planted in front of the computer screen as usual for a week and half.

I've been consumed with my nieces graduation gift and let me tell you, I could kick myself from here to Tierra del Fuego - I am so sick of myself and my procrastinating! ARGH!

Let's see - I only had MONTHS to work on her gift ... so what do I do???! Wait until five days before her baccalaureate event to begin. What a knucklehead I am.

Thankfully I can say, WHEW! It's done. Right down to the wire, but done. We all went out to dinner last night to celebrate Baccalaureate and at the end of the evening, I nervously handed over the bag with goodies for her and my anxiously wrought handiwork. I am listening for the phone to ring, hoping to hear she loved everything. Nothing yet (except for constant political calls - we vote tomorrow). I'm wondering if she's waiting until her actual graduation day on Thursday??? Certainly I will go nuts waiting, if that's the case.

If you're from California, you know that every occasion calls for See's Candies, so I got her the graduation hat box of candy - it came boxed in another box, with a cute diploma attached. (They taped it so I couldn't read See's good wishes for the Graduate - perhaps some subliminal message to buy lots of chocolate every day bwhahahahha!)

My niece is a major Twilight nut, so I begged hubby to run out and pick up the (just released Saturday morning) new Stephanie Meyer book for her too, while I continued to toil and stress away on her gifts.

And bringing up the rear, the two things I made for her were, a Congratulations garland and a quote book.

Free Rag Quilt Letters Pattern and Tutorial from Happy Together.
Congratulations garland inspiration from here.

Ay yi yi!

I started to type out every misstep and crazy thing that went on for you and then thankfully I came to my senses teehee.

Let's just say that I worked non-stop from Tuesday morning until Sunday afternoon, literally three hours before we had to leave to meet up with everyone for her baccalaureate celebration dinner.

Here's a few pages from the book I made ... thank you Leslie for the inspiration to include photos throughout her growing up years!

It's bare bones simple since this noodle head of an Auntie can't get her stuff together enough to allow ample time for a project. Sheesh! (hanging head in shame and kicking own patootie!)

  1. Sally! That quote book is WONDERFUL...lovingly personal and handmade, just perfect. I might just have to imitate you. And the banner is gorgeous. I am sure that your niece is very pleased with her treasures from a most talented and caring auntie. I love being an auntie, and I had some of the best in the biz to look too. Thank you for sharing your goodies and for inspiring us with kindness in general. Have a blessed week!!

  3. Sally, this is downright strange: I totally procrastinated on Beanie's banner too and started it Friday night at 10pm!!! Yours is awesome!
