Monday blog love

I read last week on Charlotte Lyon's blog, House Wren Studio, that Rebecca Sower had put out a request for embroidery threads for a woman she became friendly with in Haiti, Jeannine. Over the weekend I gathered up some DMC floss and pearl cotton and sent it on it's way to Rebecca this morning. I think this is such a lovely idea and an additional way that we as creative people in the blogging community, can give to those in need in Haiti, who also put their hands and hearts to work, being creative. These women have a dream to earn a living by being creative, a dream also that many of us share.

  2. Hi Twyla!
I thought that craft supplies was such a wonderful idea too!
I'm smiling over here. I had such an enormous sense that you would love l'Opale d'Arthenice! Isn't it lovely?!
And Waking up in Bavaria is the new blog by the woman who used to write "Simple Sparrow" which was wonderful ... I just checked and I guess she has removed it now.
I'm so glad you enjoyed them both.
    Wishing you a great week!

  3. Yes, I agree that sharing art supplies is good for everyone, especially with those who have less. And although I personally (and thankfully) have enough art supplies to keep me very busy, using green materials is my favorite way to go.

To answer your blog comment, GreenCraft is available online through Stampington's website or try Barnes and Noble. It just came out Feb 1st, so I'd give it a day or two before heading over to the book/craft stores. And btw, did you see the first volume...just curious to hear your thoughts.

  4. Hi Becky!

I'm with you, I think recycling, repurposing, using found objects, etc. is so great!

Thank you so much for the info re the second issue of GreenCraft - I didn't realize it had just come out. That explains why I haven't seen it yet. ahem, dirty little secret, we practically live at the book store, so I'll be sure and check it out later in the week. :)

I bought the first issue of GreenCraft and I know I enjoyed it but I'm so embarrassed - I read it all and put it away in my magazine holder and I need to revisit it. Stampington publishes so many wonderful publications that it becomes overwhelming. Not a bad thing, but there's just so much to take in.
