prim littles

Yesterday was my birthday and I decided I wanted to go to the miniature and quilt shows that were in town this weekend.

The miniature show turned out to be rather small but there was still plenty to see and wish one could come home with!

My mom and I shared a love of dollhouses and miniatures (as well as so many other things!) and we used to go together to shows many years ago.  It was such fun to see two names I remember from long ago on the program.

But the most fun of all was I found a third miniature artist, Jane Graber, whose work my mom had bought some for each of us about 25 years ago!  She turned out to be so darling and sweet, so delightful.

The redware and the doggie shelf above were all made by this same artist and then her friend, who accompanied her to the show, made the one basket on the left and another friend of theirs made the trug on the right.  She also had wonderful cabinets and hutches made by other artisans and I am kicking myself for not buying one in particular.  WAH!

You may see more of Jane Graber's charming work here, on her family's website.

I was so thrilled to come home with these little charmers, which are my new favorite things and I can't wait until next years show!

  1. Happy birthday! Glad you had such a fun day. I had to laugh at your unintentional pun though..."the miniature show turned out to be rather small." :-)

  2. Happy Birthday ... it's nice that you got to do something fun on your special day. I liked all of the miniatures ... but my favorite was the little dog shelf. Soooooo Cute!

  3. Love that little doggie shelf!! thank you for stopping in at Cranberry Morning. We've actually got 30 degrees F. here today. Yea. A heat wave. :-)

I am so sorry to read of your beloved Honey. It is so hard to lose these dear pets. They are so sweet and loving. We lost our cat Lionel last fall and both of my dogs are well up in years, 12 and 13. I hate thinking of it.

  4. I am filled with jealousy!! But not really - I do love what you found. These pieces are so lovely, my goodness, what amazing work! As to not having enough room for a dollhouse, my friend, neither do we! We live in about 1200 square feet here at the cottage. But I just MADE room. You can, too. I am going to prod you in that direction! Someone who loves miniatures as you do must have a dollhouse! By the way, I've been looking at your blog roll and discovering wonderful new blogs. Thank you!

Thank you so much for joining in this week!

  7. Hi Sally,
Thanks for visiting Elderberry Street and letting me know who you are. Wasn't that just the best weekend at French General? I felt a little out of my league as well. I've only finished the cuff and its a little too big. If you try again, keep that in mind as you're stitching and glueing since it is now too late for me to adjust it. It was a stretch for me to "get out of the box" like Rebecca does. Baby steps, I say. Your miniatures a so sweet. I can't imagine making something so tiny. I tried to return the email, but found that you are a "no reply" blogger. :-( but, I found you anyway. Thanks for taking our picture, the lighting was horrible, so it wasn't your fault. Take care,
    Karen
