peter rabbit 1904 - photo heavy

I found this charming, albeit falling apart, edition of Peter Rabbit at the antique mall two or three months ago. I picked it up and opened the cover and at first, saw nothing but blank pages! Then I slowly retraced my steps and separated the pages to find these delightful color plates. Sadly some pages are missing, I think five or six pages of the story and illustrations are gone, but still --- it makes my heart go pitter pat! I thought this would be a fun time to share it with you, since Bunny Day is this weekend. Enjoy!

valentiney show and tell

I made Joyce a little Valentine's Day/Thank You combo card. Well the good old USPS (stinkers!) really let me down for Valentine's Day this year --- taking a whole week to make it to Joyce but thankfully made it right on Valentine's Day.

I didn't get a good picture of it, drat! I had this silly idea to use this valentine novelty fabric I bought this year behind it and it looks rather like a pyschedelic mess, doesn't it?! phooey. hope I didn't cause you any permanent eye damage ... LOL.

Hope you had a lovely (and crafty) Valentine's Day!

young and fabulous, yes indeedy!

My cousin sent me a birthday card ... LOL ... OH YEAH, young and fabulous, that's me! (more like older than dirt but still moving hahhahahhaha)

Had some pre-birthday birthday fun over the weekend on Saturday ... first the wonderful Road to California Quilt Show, out in mega WINDY Ontario and then a fun modern ballet, based on the music of Sarah McLachlan, "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy".

I had fun but could have had a whole lot more hahahha

The ballet was lovely, such beautiful images
made with the human body. And I adore Sarah McLachlan.

And here's my very first mini sampler
that I showed you a sneak peek of earlier,
for my partner Marti ...

Happy Monday!

hope is the thing with feathers

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
~Emily Dickinson

Awwwww ... Many years ago my mom had a pen pal that made her this sweet little birdie pitcher. Hoping I can find a spot in this jam packed to the brim house, so I can see it all the time.

Celebrating Malala today!

Anyone else jumping up and down over the news this morning that Malala Yousafzai (and co-recipient, Kailash Satyarthi, fellow child rights advocate) won the Nobel Peace Prize?! 17 years old and won the Nobel Peace Prize! Her unrelenting courage, determination and sense of hope, blow me away. In her speech of thanks, she thanked her beloved father "for not clipping her wings".

May we all be inspired and emboldened to action by this brave, compassionate soul. May all girls fly free and pursue their sweetest and boldest and wildest of dreams.

Wishing you a happy and fabulous Friday!

roy williams the big mooseketeer

Hey, look at what I found! A drawing for me by the one and only Big Mooseketeer, Roy Williams, during a visit to Disneyland when I was little. (It's not dated so sadly I have no idea how old I was??) So much fun. Somewhere I have one signed by "Zorro" too from another long ago visit.  Summer always meant at least one visit to Disneyland, usually more.

we old people took selfies too

Polaroid selfie of me around about 1989

I had the hubby pull down four boxes this morning that haven't been gone through in years. Oh good grief! Not quite sure what prompted my taking of this Polaroid selfie of myself in 1989?!

Look! There's those HUGE glasses, making another appearance. I have so many photos of me, with an inappropriate finger, pushing them back up my nose LOL.  (I'm really narrow through my eyeballs and glasses never ever fit me right, and big ones were completely ridiculous!)

And I had a hairdresser who insisted on cutting my layered bangs, wayyyyyyy toooo short. I look like I have one of those poodle pompadour things going on.

Trying to remember the sweater I have on here - obviously not a fave as I don't really remember it and that's not possible. Clothes Horse was my middle name. It appears to be some early failed attempt at ombre dying hahahahhaaha. It is my favorite color though, turquoise - teal - blue green, whatever you call it.

I do love this photo so very much though because I can see my brother in my face! I've never noticed a resemblance before. I always thought I didn't look like anyone in my family and now I see them all in me. sniffle sniffle.

if it walks like a duck ...

sniffle sniffle ...

The ugly duckling truth ... I ran out of time to finish my ducky in class last weekend and the past week had too many surprises in it, requiring my time, to try to finish her.

I'm really anxious about having to finish her all on my own.

I found this sooooooooooo difficult. I have no eye for dimension or form or sculpting ability so I was so far out of my depth and comfort zone (which is pretty narrow to begin with, let alone in public!).

Please think cute ducky thoughts for me and that I can overcome my anxiety and get her finished. WAH!
