Oh goodness me! Sorry I'm a bit late.
I forgot to plan for Vintage Thingie
Thursday, so I'm sharing two family
photos that I had already scanned.
Whew!

Whew!
This is a photo of my maternal grandmother.
(You can also see her in my banner on the far left hand side.
My grandfather is standing behind her and

Isn't this a fun photo?! Girl's Day Out! This photo includes
my maternal grandmother's (remember, pictured above) mother,
(my great grandmother). She is the first one on the right,
in the back row (counting the three young women behind
the wooden bar/banister as the back row),
with the light dress and white plume on her hat.

Or perhaps it's easier to just say she is the second
from the right??? (So sorry to be confusing.)
Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday!

Oh I just love really old photos! The hair styles and clothes are amazing. Thanks for visiting and happy day to you! Blessings DE
ReplyDeleteYou may be a little late for your post today, but it was worth waiting far. Very nice vintage family photos.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos, it is so fun to see the styles and fashions of yesterday....great post. Have a great VTT!
ReplyDeleteHi D.E.!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Isn't it fun to see the clothing and hair styles?! I wonder if the group photo is a "Finishing School" photo, since they're so fancied up???
Happy Thursday,
Sally
Hi LV!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The group picture is one of my favorites that I have found so far.
Happy Thursday,
Sally
Hi Suzanne!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's a bit breath taking to think of all the "regalia" ladies used to wear and the amount of time required for the desired effect. It sure is fun to look at! :)
Happy Thursday and thank you again for hosting VTT!
Sally
I love the one with the whole group all wearing different hats!
ReplyDeleteHi Postcardy!
ReplyDeleteThat's my favorite too. The hats are so much fun - oh and good gosh, I just noticed how small all of their waists are! Lots of corseting going on. OUCH!
Happy Thursday,
Sally
Hello Sally, It is nice to have old photos of generations back to hang on too. It make me a little sad to see so many antique pic's end up in antique shops. I tell my self I wouldnt give this up I would always find someone in the family to treasure it. Thanks for stopping by today...Julian
ReplyDeleteI love the old pictures..I just can't stand it when they end up in an antique shop. They belong with family.. Happy VTT..
ReplyDeleteGirls night out - they were before their time! How fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely photo and you are so lucky to have it!!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Susan and Bentley

Hi Sally,
ReplyDeleteThe outfit is called "Dress Coat" #1906. Barbie had a matching coat and dress called "Red Flare".
The "Dress Coat" outfit came with a hat, gloves, socks, purse and shoes. You can google "vintage skipper dress coat" and find more info and pictures.
Thank you for your comment!
Lindsey
Im so Jealous, i love those pics- our family has about 10 old pictures- and none look like that, i always am so facinated by them- Just became a follower- love the blog-Karryann
ReplyDeletethnks for stopping by today.
Hi Sally,
ReplyDeleteYour vintage photos are fabulous. I love the group photo of the ladies all dolled up with hats and fancy dresses. I wonder why they rarely smiled for photos back then.
Great photos. Girls Night Out somehow struck me as funny. Seems some in the pic are more pleased than others. I like knowing that the little girl in your header photo is your mom. That also is a very good photo. Have a great weekend Sally and I hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteHi Julian!
ReplyDeleteI know, it makes me so sad to see family photos being sold (and for a pittance). I always wonder why? Are they the last in the family? Were they estranged? So very sad. I was over the moon happy when I found these at my dad's house. I didn't even know we had any from my mom's family. I have so many questions and there's no one left to answer them now. WAH!
Happy Friday to you!
Sally
Hi CC!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting. I know, it's so very heartbreaking to see family photos for sale! I didn't know these even existed until recently - now begins the sleuthing. :)
Happy Friday,
Sally
Hi Maureen!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was fun to think of them as a bunch of girls out having a good time. :) But I'm thinking that perhaps it's a Finishing School photo or something of the like???
Happy Friday,
Sally
Hi Susan and Woof Woof to Bentley!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I feel like I found buried treasure. :)
Happy Friday,
Sally
Hi Lindsey!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all the information, you are a gem! :)
Happy Friday to you,
Sally
Hi Karryann!
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet, thank you!
I didn't even know these existed until recently and wonderfully, there's quite a few. Truly treasures. Now I have to try and figure out who everyone is and there are very few clues. SOB.
Happy Friday to you,
Sally
Hi Tammy!
ReplyDeleteI know, isn't it odd that people seldom smiled in old photos?! I've found a few of truly scowling ancestors. I hope they weren't crabby pants in real life. :)
Happy Friday to you,
Sally
Hi Jenny!
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing?
Yeah! I'm glad you found it amusing because that was what I was trying for and my silliness quite often falls flat. D'oh.
I've found some wonderful photos of my mom when she was little, so much fun.
Yippie yippie, my cold is gone ... but ... been replaced by allergies. WAH! Phooey.
Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Sally
Hi Sally,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the question answering info. I love your old photos. Makes me want to get some of mine out.
Sally, Your grandmother's face is so sweet and lovely. I am excited to share that a relative on my mother's side (who never spoke of her family) wrote to tell me that there has been a family reunion for 75 years now in Lexington, North Carolina. My grandmother was one of 13! Lots of people were upset by the story, and I didn't pay much attention to it. I am very embarrassed by that. Sometimes I write for myself, and if it seems as though I am drawing attention, I will delete it but not before someone has sneaked a peek! You are a quick draw, my friend! E
ReplyDeleteHi Leslie!
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome - I'm sorry I don't have a better or more definitive answer for you.
Oh! I hope you'll post some of your vintage photos too, they're so much fun to see!
Happy weekend to you and good luck with the new floor!
Sally
Hi Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I sure wish I knew how old my grandmother was in the photo but at least I have the photo. Time to put on my sleuthing cap. :)
How exciting to find out about your family reunion! I hope you'll be able to go or at least hear all about it.
Oh gosh. I wasn't upset about the story - I was worried that "my story" may have upset you?! I'm sorry if others were upset - I didn't pay much attention to the other comments. I sure wouldn't have guessed anyone was upset to the degree they'd like it removed? I'm so sorry you felt you had to remove it. I know we all loved hearing about your darling TSG and her proud moment and her loving parents. Please don't feel badly or embarrassed. Sending you lots of hugs!
Happy Weekend,
Sally
