This Vintage Thingie Thursday, I am sharing a very much beat up and down trodden, bird guide that I picked up at a yard sale a couple of months ago. The front cover is a mess and the back cover is completely gone but inside lies treasure! 190 pages of charming vintage birdie graphics to admire. Wowie!
Sally this is so sweet. I recently got some vintage sewing cards off eBay and framed them for my mother. They were all birds too. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting and informative post for today. Those are great stories of the birds.
ReplyDeleteLove birds! We feed a lot of them in our yard.
ReplyDeleteThere were so many hummers fighting over our feeder the other night it was rather annoying to sit out on the deck! But - - - we LOVE them and keep right on feeding them.
The contents were worth buying it. The images and info are great!
ReplyDeleteThis is just wonderful. I love it.
ReplyDeleteHow utterly cool is that! I love birds (and have a vintage, though not nearly as old, field guide). The graphics are wonderful. They'd look great framed, but I can't imagine you'd want to take it apart. Maybe scan some of the images? Anyway, I enjoyed seeing this today!
ReplyDeleteLUCKY!!!! This is so wonderful! "Bird" everything is so HOT right now and probably always, because everybody loves birds! And VINTAGE!! Thanks for the peek! Jacqueline

Wow, what a find! My mother would flip for something like this and I can definitely see scans turned into beautiful greeting cards. Thanks for sharing, they are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun find! I would have snatched this book up too!
ReplyDeleteVery cool vintage book. I really love anything to do with birds. It would look nice just on a stand. Happy VTT
ReplyDeleteOh my - those pictures are gorgeous. I love vintage birdies.
ReplyDeletei love old books! the pictures are beautiful! thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOoh! Love the book and all of the bird prints. I have this thing for vintage bird prints too and even blogged about some vintage bird playing cards today! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow this is fantastic. Beautiful illustrations-I can't believe you gotit at a garage sale. I'm impressed! About Marshall Fields-I do think Frango Mints were originally from that store. They were actually made right in the store. We always had them when I was a kid-they still sell them at the downtown store(It's Macy's now)-but they aren't made there now. Thanks for encouraging word about BJ going to away to school. He's here for 2 more weeks. I'll just have to stay busy and do some extra thrifting and crafting! Have a great day!

WHat a beautiful book! I love old vintage prints of birds and flowers. I think the cover of this book is beautiful, too. It shows its age, but I love the edges. :) Happy weekend, the skelly painting is on the way! xox
ReplyDeleteHi Sally! These two past posts are just wonderful with their amazing book plates. It would be SO hard not to cut the wonderful bird images! I have a special fondness for vintage farm photos - why, I am a city girl! Thank you for sharing yours! Elizabeth
