A Matter of the Heart

Uh oh. I was trying to calm down about holidays but Valentine's Day is just over the horizon, coming up fast.

I was looking for a heart penny rug pattern to make and I found this darling one last night! (It's actually a candle mat - don't know the difference between a penny rug and a candle mat??? Is it because the appliques aren't coin shaped or the overall size of the mat, or???)

And I just ordered these adorable ornaments from Stephanie at her Old World Primitives Etsy Shop.

Do you read Victoria Magazine? I'm loving these cameo silhouette Valentine's in the January/February issue!

You can get the cameo silhouette patterns here online at Victoria Magazine.

  1. Hey Sally! Beanie is still reading The Graveyard Book but she really likes it. I'll have to take a look at it myself when she's done... I just finished The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and it was good too, a page turner. I just started Ragtime now and its really good too. What are you going to start now?

  4. Hi Lori!
I'm glad Beanie is enjoying the book. I was trying to think whether I would have enjoyed it at ten years old or not??? My husband started reading it last night - he's a very quick reader (I'm slowwwwwwww) and I'm very curious to see if he likes it.
I have The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo - it got a rave review in the L.A. Times when it was first available in the U.S. and I ran out and got it but I couldn't get into it. I'll have to try again.
I'm hoping to make it to the bookstore tomorrow - Time Magazine had a list of the ten books of the decade online and I want to look at the one by the man who wrote The Remains of the Day, which I loved (his name is escaping me right now). It sounded really good on Amazon.
You know all those unused craft supplies? Well I've got even more unread books, waiting to be read, if that's possible!
Hope you're having a great weekend!

  5. Hi Pam!
Aren't Stephanie's ornaments wonderful?! Hope we aren't making you blush Stephanie! :)
How cold is it where you are? (I imagine you know how "uncold" it is here in Los Angeles right now!)
Wishing you lots of fun making hearts (can't wait to see your latest!) and stay warm and cozy, with lots of cocoa!
    Happy happy weekend!

You're very welcome! Your things are so lovely, I want everyone to find you and enjoy them too. :)
Don't the cameo valentine's look like fun?! I'm not very skilled at intricate paper cutting but I still would like to try some.
    Happy happy weekend!
