(Please visit Sue at It's A Very Cherry World for more Rednesday fun!)
I am sharing some of my mother's Hummel items this Rednesday. People generally think of Goebel and their wonderful plates, figurines and bells when they think of Hummel. So I thought it might be fun to share something different with you.
The charming little childs cup is from Schmid and the fun spoon is from Josef Muller. A lovely German friend of my mom's sent her the book of Sister Berta Hummel's illustrations and "light verse". Here are some of the delightful illustrations enclosed that have smidgens of red for this Rednesday. Hope they bring you smiles like they do me!

Glad you shared some of your Hummels. I have several and plan to share later on.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely book -- I just love her illustrations. How lucky your mother is to have it!
ReplyDeleteHummels are so cute! My sister-in-law has a bunch. I noticed you referred to the 94 quake in your comment over at Sue's. I remember that quake very well, if the one you are referring to is the Northridge quake. I live north of San Francisco and that day was Martin Luther King Day we were home. I felt a quake and turned on the TV to see if I could find out where it hit. And what did I see? News about the Northridge quake. We used to live there so I recognized a lot of the footage on the news. But what I felt was not related. Too far away. That one was center in the hills east of us. I was glued to the TV all day instead of getting things done on a day off.

ReplyDeleteHi Sally! I love the umbrella Hummels! What a memory of childhood. Thanks for the trip back. Huggs, Sunny
ReplyDeleteI love Hummels, I have one which was left me by my great-aunt namesake; she got cracked years ago but we glued her back together and I still treasure her. I'd love for you to share the book pictures/details at Corey Moortgat's Friday vintage book linky party, I often join that party. Hugs ~ Mary
