in the meantime ... An Affaire At Downton Abbey

While I'm beyond excited and stalking my mail carrier and my email regarding Viv's Secret Leprechaun Swap, waiting for my surprise and also news of my partner receiving hers - I dream about all things Downton.

In May I'm attending An Affaire At Downton, can't wait! This is the first time I'm attending one of Kim Caldwell's elaborate and thrilling art weekends.

The first evening we are to dress up (if we wish to) in ensembles in the spirit of Downton. Fun fun fun. We've just received news of a cocktail party to kick off the evening too.

Later there will be wonderful vendors selling their artistic wares and there will be lots of swaps the first evening too.

I joined an embroidered sampler swap ... my head is overwhelmed with ideas swimming around.  I'm pulling things out and having fun playing. (I don't know why some of the floss is so dark in my photo?)

What shall Lady Sally make???

    1. Hi Lady Pamela :)

I'll be sure and post when I have something to reveal ... it will probably be awhile, I need to plot it out and practice a lot, since it has to be Downton worthy ;)

I'm so excited for my package to arrive, I feel like I'm waiting for Santa LOL.

      Happy Sunday!

    1. Hi Holly!
Don't you love Downton Abbey?! So much fun! What a great gift from your husband and you can watch it again and again and see all the details. I love the clothes.
Thank you! I'm hoping I can figure out something pretty for my sampler for my swap partner! It's been a while since I've done embroidery without a pattern. YIKES!

      Happy Sunday!

  3. That sounds like a very fun time. :) I think that there is an exhibit in DE right now, of some of the costumes from the series. I might have to drive over there and see it! :)

  4. SALLY! Hello, so long no comment, I know. I should have known you would love Downton. What a treat. will you dress up. I am hoping to start blogging again as I am planning for a family trip again finally. Otherwise I have been busier than I was before with a Senior in High School and homeschooling our 7 year old. I hope you are well and I am going to catch up on your posts. toodles, Jenny Neumann

    1. JENNY! HELLO! So nice to see you :) Feels like such a long time.
Yup, once an Anglophile, always an Anglophile. Adore Downton. Not sure if I will dress up --- I bought a dress but it was so very unflattering that I don't know what to do now. I don't have time to make a dress like some of the other ladies are doing. WAH! Oh well, however it works out is fine.
Where are you going on your trip? I look forward to hearing about it. You're little girl is 7 now, gosh the years are flying by.
Hoping all is well with you and your family and hope to see more of you!

  5. Hello SALLY! I have finally made it back to my favorite blogs and had to catch up and am so glad to see you love Downton too. I hope you will be dressing up. I am pondering starting my bloggie life again (I miss it) yet I have not been organized enough in homeschooling Sophia to juggle my interests. So is me. I miss your thoughts and inspirations. God bless you and your creative endeavors. Jenny Neumann

    1. Hi Jenny! I bet you were confused by my blog comment moderation, that I didn't used to have. Spambots kept leaving me messages, every day, many at a time. So I gave up and moderate now. Don't like it but it's preferable to spam.
Let me know if you start blogging again and I'll look forward to catching up on all your news and your upcoming trip. You've always been such a kind and thoughtful blogging friend and have been missed!
      Take care, Sally xo

  6. Wow, that sounds like so much fun! I must be the only person left on the planet that hasn't been totally consumed by Downton! (Instead of WWJD maybe we need WSLSM?)

    1. Hi Lori! We love all things English over here. I have some quibbles with Downton but mostly adore it. I'm sure there are many others who either don't care for it or don't watch PBS period, so I'm sure you've got a lot of company.
WSLSM, hahhahhaha - I had to scratch my head over that, took me moment to figure out what you meant ... DUH!!!
I'm so thrilled for you and your new endeavors, wishing you much success!
      xo
