so leave awhile

So leave awhile the paw-marks on the front door
Where I used to scratch to go out or in,
And you'd soon open; leave on the kitchen floor
The marks of my drinking-pan.
~ Robinson Jeffers, "The House Dog's Grave"

I see you everywhere,
dearest girl, best friend.
You are forever in my heart.
Miss Licky Loo, Honey Bun Bun.

  1. Sally, I am crying for you and me. We lost our little Max yesterday too. I can't believe he's gone. I know how sad you must be. I'm thinking about you dear friend during this sad time.

  2. Sally, I tried to comment earlier, but have been having computer problems.I'm so sorry about your Honey. We lost our Max yesterday too. I just read through your previous posts(hadn't been online for a few days). So sad. Max had a fungal pneumonia and he went very fast. I know how you feel. It's horrible, isn;t it? I'm sending you a hug, my friend.

  3. Sally, I'm so sorry about your Honey. There is nothing like the love of, and for, a dog. I know the feeling of losing a beloved doggie-best-friend. You have some difficult days ahead, but will always have all the wonderful memories to cherish. ((hugs)) Pam

  4. Oh I am so sorry..but I know only too well your pain. I still miss my Heidi almost a year later..just blessed, we are to have such great puppies. Thinking of you

  5. Ahhhh Sally! I saw the title of your post and said "OH NO!!"
I'm so so sorry. I will for sure be thinking of you and your family tonight...hoping that each day gets a little easier.
    Love, Erica

  6. Miss Sally I am so sorry for your loss. I adore my doggies and miss my two goldens that went within six weeks of each other. Please know that I am thinking of you and giving my doggies an extra hug. Blessings...Renee

  9. I am so sorry for you Sally. I have also lost a dog and know how said it is. I hope very soon you will smile and have a warm feeling when you remember instead of the sadness. So sad for you.
