Up up and away ...
We saw the latest from Pixar this morning and in 3D. WAHOO! You've got to see this one if you love Pixar flicks. Charming, funny, great to look at of course and even brings some tears. Oh and dogs too.

Memorial Day Weekend Fun
Hope everyone has been having an enjoyable holiday weekend!
We went to yard sales and a thrift store on Saturday. I picked up some early issues of Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food Magazine – I could kick myself for not having kept my old copies - & I got some darling Golden Books (the illustrations are so sweet), a Bobbsey Twin book and a fun old illustrated book of poetry. Oh and a really old compilation of Mark Twain’s works. And! I finally found two cashmere sweaters to felt for crafts. Didn’t think that was ever going to happen. Yahoo!
Sunday we saw a wonderful production of Thornton Wilder’s play “Our Town” by the Actor’s Gang. “Our Town” is one of the best plays ever written to my way of thinking ... a play about love and remembrance, so very fitting for this weekend of remembering. Truly a must see if you’ve never seen it performed.
And today we saw a charming movie, “Easy Virtue”. I just read it was written by Noel Coward when he was 23. Light and entertaining.
Hoping and praying for peace and an end to war this Memorial Day Weekend.

Fairies
Summon a fairy
Sit where the cat sits.
Cross your toes.
Close your eyes.
And smell a rose.
Then say under your breath:
"I believe in Fairies, sure as death.
Gadflykins! Gladtrypins!
Gutterpuss and Cass!
Come to me fairily
Each lad and lass!"
~ A fairy call from Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book by Terry Jones
I love fairies. We went to a rummage sale Sunday morning and I picked up a book of fairy postcards and one of Cicely Mary Barker’s books, “Flower Fairies of the Trees”. If you can’t get enough of fairies, check out this gorgeous site, The Faery Crossing.

Pride and Prejudice
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife". ~ Chapter 1
If you love Pride and Prejudice (like I do!) and you also enjoy counted cross stitch embroidery, you might want to check out this wonderful French embroidery blog, gazette94. She is offering some charming free Pride and Prejudice inspired counted cross stitch patterns. (She has a gazillion wonderful free counted cross stitch charts, so be sure and look at her blog history for all of her other goodies.)
Since my niece is enthralled with vampires these days, I'm going to make her the bookmarks to go along with "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", a spoof of Pride and Prejudice that I only just heard about.

Sally Annie Magundy
I bet you’re wondering what the origin of my funny blog name is. When I was little my dad called me various silly names. The name he most often called me was, Sally Magundy.
When I decided to start an Etsy store I was perplexed as to what I should name it. And then a lightning bolt hit – why of course, it had to be Sally Magundy. Especially since the word “salmagundi” (which was the origin of Sally Magundy), means “a collection containing a variety of sorts of things”.
And so my store became “Sally Magundy: a miscellany of creative ingredients” and it immediately felt like home.
Then I decided to start a blog in conjunction with my Etsy store and came to find out that Sally Magundy was already taken for a blog name!!! I wondered, did the blog holder of that name, have a father who lovingly called her that also? In that case, I will most happily share the name with her.
I was momentarily bereft to not have my childhood name (that would also match my Etsy store) but then it struck me that my brother called me Sally Annie Oakley when I was little – so all was well with the world again and the rightful name was found.
What was your father's and/or brother's special name for you?

Etsy update
I added a few more stamp packets to my Etsy store today and also two fun mini canceled postage sheets from the Arab Emirate of Umm-Al-Qiwain. So pretty.
I also have a charming sheet of Christmas Seal stamps from South Africa (issued in 1979) to list but I think I'm going to try them out on Ebay first.

There are rumors on the internets
Yup. It’s me. Here on the infamous internets with you.
I’ve been thinking it might be a fun idea to have a partner blog to my Etsy store and also a place for me to talk about my complete and utter obsession with craft and cooking blogs. I fear I may have bored my nearest and dearest to the point of no return and I'm on the lookout for fresh eyes and ears. Candidates will be of good cheer, prone to oohing and aahing audibly and delight in sharing links of wonderfulness. Chocolate is held in particular high esteem here so be prepared for many sightings and discourse on the subject.
And so it begins…

Longing for: chocolate chocolate chocolate
