Jack and Jill 1968 Christmas Annual for VTT

(please visit Suzanne at Colorado Lady for more Vintage Thingie Thursday fun!)

I don't know if there will be a Vintage Thingie Thursday post today or not but I'm over here driving myself insane, trying to finish up wrapping Christmas presents, etc. and I thought a break was called for before I am completely nutty.

So I thought I'd share some pages from the 1968 Christmas Annual issue of the children's magazine, Jack and Jill. Here are some fun kitschy retro crafts, darling illustrations, recipes, etc. for your enjoyment! (and a mental health break for me teehee!)

Well, it's begun to thunderstorm here, guess that's my cue to get back to the things I need to get done! Hope you enjoyed my little diversion. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

  2. Hi Pammie! I think I may have delayed too long and have gone round the bend teehee! All I've gotten done today was tags for four gifts (I did make three tags for each gift so that does equal twelve!) - first the silly Stickles glitter glue refused to dry for HOURS and then there was an ant invasion, the likes of which none has been seen before. ACK! Returning to the assembly line of tag making ... Merry merry ho ho ho! ;)

    P.S. Hope you're feeling better!
P.S.S. It was just booming and pouring here and a few minutes later, it's done. Did you hear that Downtown Laguna Beach is closed?!

  5. Hi Sally,
Love the vintage images, especially the music ones. So cute. Has the rain finally let up? I think about you everytime I watch the news! Hope you get all your Christmas stuff done. Merry Christmas!

  6. Hi Leslie!
I think of you every time I see music sheets now! (Have I told you that my Auntie played with the L.A. Philharmonic and also played the organ for many years at the Sunrise Easter Service at the Hollywood Bowl? You would have enjoyed her!)
It just thundered and poured for a short while - we're still under flash flood warning. We're not in harms way but my dad lives in the canyons which are always a mess in the rain. Thank you for asking!
Wishing you the most wonderful of Christmases and much joy in 2011!

  13. Hi Sally,

I love this book! The illustrations are great and that last project reminds me of a project book I had as a kid, reusing containers to make animals and such. Your mom's dad was Swedish, my dad's mom was first generation Swedish-American. I never knew who the illustrator of that book was until I looked it up to write my post and then, like you, it gave my heart a little tug. Merry Christmas to you and yours and Happy New Year!
