Monday Blog Love

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Saturday was filled with errands and puttering around the house over here. One errand was fun though! It was time to pick up some counted cross stitch booklets I had ordered ... and they had new spooky ones too, that somehow, don't know how, made it into my bag teehee.

We couldn't wait for Sunday and were so excited to go to the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along the next day!

Ay yi yi. We had forgotten what a total pain in the patootie parking is around the El Capital (or anywhere in Hollywood)! We couldn't see the parking lot that was supposed to be across the street (guess it's somewhere under Grauman's or the Kodak Theater but we didn't see any signs) and time was running short (on our way there, we ran into in a marathon being run and we were detoured block, after block ARGH!). So we turned the corner, to go around the block and there was a parking lot. EUREKA!

Good old Los Angeles ... a twenty dollar parking lot! We didn't know what would happen if we passed it by, so in we went and laid our money down ... and grumbled and groaned. Now parking is expensive in L.A. but the only other time we've ever had to fork over twenty smackers was for Cirque du Soleil several years ago, when it was in Downtown L.A. (please please come back to the Santa Monica Pier, dear Cirque!).

(YIPES!)

My husband had ordered The Super Duper Tickets for this special event online, so we had actual reserved seats WOOHOO, so we didn't have to wait in line or buy tickets. WHEW!

It became quickly apparent that we were the only adults in the theater without children, too funny! Lots of moms and dads had not just one or two, but a handful of children in tow. There were lots of darling little Belle's and Snow Whites, looking so excited.

The lights dimmed and the previews were shown and then a real life Belle came out and twirled back and forth briefly on the stage and greeted us, two confetti cannons went off POP!, and then curtain after glorious glittery curtain, opened to reveal the screen. You've got to go to the El Capitan, such a beautiful theater. And of course they had a gorgeous print of the film, it was so much fun to see it on the big screen again, after 19 years or so since it came out.

The only thing that was missing at our Sing-Along, was the Sing-Along. When you have an audience of tiny tykes and tots, there's not a lot of singing going on. The only voice I could hear was my husband croaking, um, yes, I mean crooning Dear, in my ear. And occasionally I could hear the mom directly behind me. That's it. So I didn't feel emboldened to pipe in, since I would have stood out like a sore thumb, a very tone deaf one. WAH! So disappointing.

For my foodie friends ... Afterward we drove a few blocks south to Mario Batali's (and the wonderful Nancy Silverton's) restaurant, Mozza, and picked up a pizza, salad and dessert to go for lunch. We got the Squash Blossom and Burrata (fresh mozzarella cheese) Pizza - the best pizza crust I have EVER eaten! WOWIE! The salad was ony three ingredients, Rucola (arugula), Funghi (mushrooms of course and they seemed like regular every day mushrooms but so FRESH!) and Piave cheese (kind of like Parmesan, but so much better, heavenly!) and then a lemon shallot vinaigrette, so light and so yummy. And one the desserts we got, Torta della nona (Grandmother's Cake) was wonderful, so delicious- like cheesecake, but somehow not.

So it ended up being quite a day for unexpected splurging - we'll be living on beanie weanies for a long while! (Our anniversary is coming up this month, so I guess we've already started celebrating!)

Happy Monday to everyone!
