Jeepers. Stop. Start. Stop. Start.
Well I'm at it again. I've started to go through my parents things again ... so many things I had wanted to keep but unless I add on a storage room to my house, I can't.
So I'm going through my mom's tablecloths and I found this cutie! Teeny thing, what could it have been used for??? Nowhere near big enough even for a card table. Darling cross stitch, someone's handwork, I assume my mom or my grandma but it could have been a gift too. This one I'm going to keep and also my mom's Christmas cloth that I shared at holiday time.
Anyway, I was hoping that maybe my vintage loving and knowledgeable friends could tell me how I can safely wash and press it and not ruin it?! Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

How wonderful, I am glad your keeping some of your Mom's things..you will never regret it. How sweet, I am sure it was made for a cardtable. I wish mine in regular soap on delicate.
ReplyDeleteHi Ann - I see I'm a noodle as always and didn't reply correctly - don't know why I have such a hard time with that??? My reply follows after this. Happy Valentines!
DeleteHi Ann, Thank you so much for the info! Are you saying you put yours in the washing machine? I'm so afraid it will fall apart if I put it in the machine, even on delicate. I'm a Nervous Nellie LOL. I'm nervous the red will run too WAH! Oh, I'm a mess and bundle of nerves over this ...
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day to you Ann!
Oh, Sally...What a treasure! Oh, how I love the red and white...and, it's the perfect Valentine!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Happy Valentine's Day...Rednesday, too!
Carolynn xoxo
Hi Carolynn! Thank you, isn't it cute?! Not sure what it is but I just love it to bits. :)
DeleteHappy Valentines Day to you and all your dear ones! xo
Sally, How pretty! Why don't you just put it in a pan of lukewarm water in some mild soap, let it sit for awhile, then rinse well. Dont really wring it, just kind of pat the water out and let it air dry. It shouldn't run since they were made to be washed, right? It looks more like a vintage towel or runner to me.
ReplyDeleteI've washed hundreds of linens and only damaged one. I think yours will work out fine, let us know. Love it!
Hi Pam! OH! You are the voice of reason! Thank you for talking me down from the precipice teehee. It's just so dear to me and I didn't want to ruin it as would be my rotten luck. I'm a living example of Murphys Law. ;)
DeleteYou're a smartie - you must be right, it must be a towel - it's oversized for that but makes the most sense. Such a mystery.
Happy Valentines Day!
sALLY,
ReplyDeleteI love your table cloth. I have one that my mom made and hope to get some more. Sweet "Puppy Love" pics
Hi Sally,
ReplyDeletewhat a treasure you found. I love that it has family ties. I wash old linens in a gentle detergent by hand. Dry on a rack and press.
Hope this helps.
hugs,
Jann
Hi Sally. I love the cloth ~ it's a keeper. I wash vintage linens by soaking them for several hours in Biz or Oxi-Clean, then washing on gentle with Woolite. It should be fine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by (**
What a pretty cloth and treasure. The pretties in the bowl look interesting too!
