Happy Halloween!

It's Halloween! It's Halloween!
The moon is full and bright
And we shall see what can't be seen
On any other night
Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls
Grinning goblins fighting duels
Werewolves raising from their tombs
Witches on their magic brooms
In masks and gown we haunt the street
And knock on doors for "Trick or Treat"
Tonight we are the king and queen
For oh tonight it's Halloween!

Nearing the witching hour

Did you think I was done? nuh uh, not me ... I'm like the Ever Ready bunny once I get a hold of something! Now don't fret or fuss, all I've manage to get done are my Halloween cards. So no worries - it's all good and there's always next year! I'll be trying to decorate tonight and watching Frankenweenie and maybe Sleepy Hollow too, love Tim Burton! Happy Halloween!

Thank you Pam!

The adorable and oh so talented, Pam at yoborobo, had a giveaway and I won the second prize!!! The absolutely darling, little gremlin guy, Marty arrived yesterday. As if he wasn't the greatest gift, Pam enclosed a signed print of her wonderful artwork too!!!

Pam, you are the kindest, dearest, most generous and fabulously talented person! Thank you thank you thank you for being my friend and pal and such a sweetie & such a generous spirit and thank you so much for Marty and your gorgeous print! (whew! worlds longest sentence!)

And since you asked where my 2009 Halloween card is, here it is, somehow I produced something in the frantic mess that was yesterday. Couldn't have been easier, I made a skull template and used paper punches and cardstock. Oh and rick rack too. :)

Hey! Lookie what I found!

A vintage Halloween card that my mother (age six - well, I think actually her mom did it on her behalf) gave her grandmother! So fun, it's postmarked October 30, 1927.

Manic Macabre Monday

ACK! I woke up at three o'clock this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. So boring to just lay there so I tumbled out of bed at four twenty. YAWN! Hope to catch a nappy later.

Don't know what's up but I haven't been able to upload photos to my blog for two days now?! Fortunately I had some drafts of posts, with photos already loaded.

These are some Halloween cards that I made. I love to make cards, although I'm not great at making the same thing over and over again. Five of one design is about as much as I can stand - more gives me the heebie jeebies.

This one is from Halloween 2006. The oval frame and inside were made using a sizzix frame die. The spooky skelly scene was made with some halloween dingbats. The skeleton on the inside of the card is also a dingbat. I love dingbats!

I made this card for Halloween 2004. I made it using paper punches, clip art and dingbats. Hurray dingbats again! The font on the inside is a lot of fun - the letters are made up of bones.

Edited to add: Okie dokie - I can upload photos if I use Safari instead of Firefox!

So here's my card from 2008. Easy peasy. Found a darling pumpkin template online and just chalked it and layered it over cardstock.

Oh good golly gosh and aw shucks X 2!!!

First off, let me say a big, belated, thank you to Pam, of yoborobo, for the unthinkable bwahahahahhaa. Pam so sweetly gave me a Kreativ Blogger (I just typed Bloooger, much more fitting for me!) Award! She gave me the award a bit ago and I was all a dither and then I was felled by the dental work from hoohah and am only finally getting around to saying thank you.

Can you imagine?! Me! Thank you thank you thank you Pam, you are such a sweet and dear soul and I so appreciate you noticing me (borrowing from Tigger) and being such a dear and darling and fun blogging friend!

Let me say that I am painfully (PAINFULLY) shy. I don't know which I dread more, simply talking, or talking about myself. Oh! Yes, I do know ... it's talking about myself!!! Hands down.

I'm supposed to tell you seven things that you don't know about me but I can only come up with those two at the moment ... shy as the day is long and boring too teehee! I will have to think on this and I promise to sprinkle in some more about me as the days roll on here.

And secondly! I just went over to Pam's to copy the Kreativ Blogger Award graphic and I noticed a post of hers I hadn't read during my time on my death bed recovering from the dental work from hoohah AND ... gee willikers! She's gone and done it again! :)

Pam! You are the sweetest person! I would give you a big squishy hug if I could. I am sending you a big virtual one. Thank you thank you thank you my friend for the Deborah Award. You made me all smiley and weepy and made my day!

Since I'm such a silly goose about talking about myself, I thought maybe I'd show some Halloween pictures from years past instead.

We made our first altar for Dia de los Muertos last year. The pattern for the papel picado is available at the Toymaker. The charming skeleton is from sewing stars. ARGH! I'm so embarrassed, I can't remember where the skull is from??? If someone remembers, please let me know so I can credit the artist or website.

For some reason this site won't come up for me right now???

I made a Halloween garland for Halloween 2006. It's made with newsprint pages and cardstock. I had fun stitching the newsprint onto the black cardstock, first time I had ever done that.

I found the darling ghost paper chain template online and I have tried to hunt it down but haven't been successful yet dagnabbit. I will post it here if I finally find it. My apologies for forgetting yet another source. :(

It's National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day!

What? Huh?! How did I miss this?! I am utterly unprepared for this wonderful special day - I have pumpkin, but alas no cream cheese or graham crackers, etc. "Next year", she cries! ;)

Oh! and it's also National Caramel Apple Day!

Who knew?!

I will alert you now to the fact that tomorrow, October 22nd, is National Nut Day. (dare I say, endless possibilities there teehee!)

All of this courtesy of the newly found (to me) blog, Months of Edible Celebrations.

I ran over to TasteSpotting and found some more intriguing looking ideas to celebrate the humble pumpkin cheesecake.

Happy National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day! :)
